Diamond Repaves 40-Year-Old Parking Lot For Marietta, GA Church

Project Summary
The parking lot at North River Church of Christ was 40-years old and needed to be replaced. Leaders were concerned about disrupting traffic flow on the large campus including school activities and Sunday services.
The church consultant, Terry Wrazin, reached out to Diamond and we quickly put together a schedule for the project to unfold during Spring Break. Our crews were working within one-week of the contract being signed.

Executing The Project
Phase 1: Milling
Nearly 160,000 square feet of asphalt was milled during this phase at a depth of 2 inches.
Phase 2: Remove & Replace Base
Some areas of the parking lot had noticeable decompression that indicated the asphalt base was shifting. The old base was removed where needed and 8 inches of crushed concrete was added, graded and compacted.
Phase 3: Paving
Diamond then installed 3 inches of asphalt across the project site.
Phase 4: Fresh Lines
A new parking lot layout was painted during the final phase.

Longevity & Improved Traffic Flow
Students returned from Spring Break to find a beautiful new parking lot and freshly paved traffic lanes. The church congregation also loved the finished product that included fresh parking lines and a new pattern to improve the flow of traffic around campus.
North River Church has asked Diamond to sealcoat the parking lot annually as part of a routine maintenance schedule that will extend the life of the surface another 30 years.
