Project Summary
Steak `n Shake pioneered the idea of premium burgers and shakes in a fast food setting all the way back in 1934. Their founder emphasized the quality of their "Steakburger" by preparing the food in front of customers with the words "It Must Be Right" used as their slogan.
We bring that same attitude and commitment to quality with every parking lot project. The Steak `n Shake in Battle Creek, Michigan is just one of hundreds of restaurant locations across the USA that require routine parking lot maintenance. And that asphalt work needs to be completed on a schedule that doesn't disrupt business.
Our customers need to be able to focus on serving their customers. We take care of the parking lot details, so they can focus on the people that make their businesses tick.
Executing The Project
PHASE 1: PLANNING
The construction schedule was carefully organized to ensure there would be no disruption to the business. Our project manager worked closely with the restaurant manager in the days and weeks leading up to our crews arriving on site.
PHASE 2: REMOVE ASPHALT
2500+ square feet of asphalt was removed at a depth of 4-inches and provided the client with "full depth" asphalt replacement across this area. The base was graded and compacted during this phase.
21,000 square feet of asphalt was removed at a depth of 2-inches. Milling down only 2-inches is possible when the base is stable. This also helps minimize overall project costs.
PHASE 3: REPLACE ASPHALT
4-inches of asphalt was re-installed across the 2500 square foot area.
2-inches of asphalt was re-installed across the 21,000 square foot area with a layer of tack coat applied as a bonding agent for the new asphalt.
PHASE 4: FRESH LINES
The final phase pulled the project together as fresh lines were painted across the new asphalt surface. The drive-thru lane was marked off along with 40 regular parking stalls and 2 ADA parking stalls.
Steak`n Shake Keeps Serving Customers During 2-Day Project
It's amazing the difference a couple of days can make! Our crews were able to complete the mill and pave phase in just one-day, all while keeping the doors to the business open the whole time! A quick visit back on day 2 to get those fresh lines painted, and "viola!" A big impact, fast. We can also confirm our crews devoured their "Steakburgers" and shakes on this project. Just sayin'...
