Project Summary
Steak 'n Shake pioneered the idea of premium burgers and shakes in a fast-food setting all the way back in 1934. Their founder emphasized the quality of the "Steakburger" by preparing food in front of customers, with the words "It Must Be Right" used as the slogan.
Diamond Solutions brings that same standard to every parking lot. Across 10 states, we've completed 65 pavement and concrete projects for Steak 'n Shake restaurants — from a single mill and overlay in Battle Creek, Michigan to full-depth asphalt replacement, sealcoating, concrete repair, and striping at locations throughout the Midwest, South, and beyond. Each one is a busy restaurant with a drive-thru that can't simply shut down for construction.
That's the heart of the program: the work has to be right, and it has to happen on a schedule that doesn't disrupt business. Our customers need to focus on serving their customers. Diamond takes care of the parking lot details — planned around each restaurant's hours, sized to what each lot actually needs, and delivered to a consistent standard location after location.
Across 10 states, Diamond has completed 65 Steak 'n Shake projects.
The scale isn't the whole story; the consistency is. Whether it's one restaurant or fifteen in a state, each site gets the same planning, the same right-sized scope, and the same commitment to keeping the doors open while crews work.

Executing The Project
PHASE 1: PLANNING AROUND OPERATIONS
Every location starts with a schedule built around the restaurant's hours. Our project manager works closely with each restaurant or facilities manager in the days and weeks before crews arrive, so the drive-thru and dining room can keep running with minimal interruption.
PHASE 2: RIGHT-SIZED SCOPE PER SITE
No two lots are the same. Some need full-depth (4-inch) asphalt replacement where the base has failed; others need a 2-inch mill and overlay where the base is still stable — a choice that restores the surface while minimizing cost. Diamond scopes each site to its actual condition rather than applying one fix everywhere, and adds sealcoating, crack sealing, concrete repair, and striping where each location calls for it.
PHASE 3: FAST, LOW-DISRUPTION EXECUTION
Because the work is planned and staged tightly, most locations are completed in just one to two days on site. At the Battle Creek, Michigan location, crews milled and paved 23,000+ square feet — including 2,500+ sq ft of full-depth replacement — in a single day, then returned on day two to lay down fresh lines, all while the restaurant stayed open.
PHASE 4: FRESH LINES, CONSISTENT FINISH
Every project is pulled together with fresh striping — drive-thru lanes marked off, parking stalls and ADA spaces re-laid to spec. The result is a clean, safe, professional lot that matches the standard customers expect from the brand, delivered the same way at every location.
STANDOUT PROJECT: Battle Creek, MI — 2-Day Mill & Overlay
A representative example of the program at its best: 23,000+ square feet resurfaced, including a 2,500+ sq ft full-depth section, 40 standard stalls and 2 ADA stalls restriped, and a marked-off drive-thru lane — completed in two days without ever closing the restaurant.

One Standard Across 10 States
Across 10 states, Diamond Solutions has completed 65 pavement and concrete projects for Steak 'n Shake — mill and overlay, full-depth replacement, sealcoating, concrete repair, and striping — at busy restaurants that stayed open throughout. The program shows how a national restaurant brand can maintain locations across the country with one coordinated pavement partner who scopes every site honestly and works around the business.
For Steak 'n Shake, the result is more than fresh asphalt. It's a safer, cleaner property experience at every location — done right, and done without slowing down service. It must be right.
